In addition to the actual presentation of awards, the Golden Globe Awards is also known for its party-like atmosphere and we've assembled the best quips and most memorable moments of the evening!
The broadcast started off with a witty monologue from hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The pair proved their ability to launch pointed, unscripted zingers by referencing "pill-popping" Hollywood from the outset and addressing Kathryn Bigelow, who directed the Osama bin Laden drama Zero Dark Thirty.
Poehler joked: "When it comes to torture, I trust the woman (Bigelow) who spent three years married to (Titanic director) James Cameron."
Fey and Poehler also recognized the presence of Best Actor nominee Daniel Day-Lewis, star of Steven Spielberg's historic biopic Lincoln. After jokingly suggesting that the young Lewis played ET in Spielberg's iconic '80s movie E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, they encouraged the actor to, "Do the finger! Do the finger!" Day-Lewis obliged and raised the finger to applause and laughter.
Another witty moment was during a speech by Hollywood Foreign Press Director Dr. Aida Takla O'Reilly, who revealed an apparent personal crush on the Golden Globe nominee for Best Actor for Silver Linings Playbook, Bradley Cooper. "Allow me to say three little words to Bradley Cooper," O'Reilly said. "Call Me, Maybe," referring to the Carly Rae Jepsen hit song by the same name.
