Affleck & Hathaway Humbled by SAG Awards

By

Ben Affleck and Anne Hathaway got the ultimate nods from their acting peers on Sunday night when they were both granted SAG Awards. The awards season has been wondrous for them so far, and although they are well-established in the acting world, they were both humbled by their awards.

"It's an unbelievable feeling," said Hathaway, who won for her supporting role in Les Miserables. "I feel like I'm stupid with happiness. ... I love acting and I love getting to do it, but it's not something that...is supposed to go well. So, I've always been prepared that my career may not go well, and that it is is just such a thrill."

Hathaway has previously been nominated for SAGs and other awards, but had yet to receive any major awards until this year. Affleck, who hasn't been anointed with any awards since he co-wrote the 1997 film Goodwill Hunting, was pleasantly surprised to have received the Best Cast in a Film Award for Argo, which he directed and starred in.

"I am completely shocked. I had no idea we were going to win," said Affleck backstage. "...I got lucky. The actors that came in on this movie this movie--and there was more than 150 of them--were really, really good. ...It really is a profound honor and I would have put us last among all these people...so I really was shocked."

Also grateful to receive their awards were 30 Rock's Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin, who both received individual awards for the show's final season, which will conclude later this week.

"It feels good," Fey said of wrapping up the show after six seasons. "It's very bittersweet, but it it's felt like we've ended at the right time, so it's good."

Baldwin, whose award on Sunday marked his sixth individual award for the comedy, has dominated the Best Male in a Comedy Series category since 2007. The 54-year-old actor said it was good for him and Fey to go out with a bang at the SAGs.

"It was one of the best experiences I've ever had. [It was a] great job," he said of working on the show. "I was really happy to see her win. That was great for both of us to win the same year as we turn out the lights here so to speak."
