Entertainment magazines and blogs have bestowed Clooney with the enviable title due to his eight Oscar nominations in six different categories: Best Original Screenplay, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Directing, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Picture (which he won tonight for Argo). But, in true Clooney fashion, the movie star remained modest.

"[My publicist] is the one spreading the rumors," Clooney quipped, going on to joke, "Unless I get a tiara and some form of a sash, I'm not happy."

Clooney went on to explain what sparked his jump to working behind the camera, saying, "If you're an actor, you know that you have a time limit that you're allowed to actually do this on screen, so all you're really trying to do is do other jobs so you have things to do," said Clooney. "If you can succeed in that, it's nice."
