Swift, Maroon 5, fun. Top Billboard Awards Nods

This year's Billboard Music Awards (BBMA) nominees have been announced, and leading the pack with 11 nominations a piece are groups Maroon 5 and fun. and pop/country star Taylor Swift.

Swift, who released her fourth studio album, Red, this past fall, and Maroon 5 join Justin Bieber, Rihanna, and One Direction in the Top Artist category, an award that was bestowed on Swift in 2009.

Last year's Top Artist winner, Adele, is still reeling in the nominations from her immensely successful sophomore album, 21, which she released in November 2011. The 24-year-old singer is nominated for five awards this year, including Top Pop Artist, Top Female Artist, and Top Pop Album.

Rihanna, who was also adorned with Top Artist award in 2007, is nominated for the award once again this year amongst her 10 nominations for Unapologetic. The Barbadian singer has been nominated for 41 BBMAs in the past three years.

Also joining the pop powerhouses in the Top Artist category is British pop group One Direction, which is also nominated for Top New Artist alongside Carly Rae Jepsen, "Somebody That I Used to Know" singer Gotye, The Lumineers, and South Korean "Gangnam Style" rapper Psy.

Performing at this year's show, which will be hosted by actor and comedian Tracy Morgan, are Swift, Bieber, Bruno Mars, and Miguel.
