March 03, 2014

Stars walking the red carpet before last night's Academy Awards emerged without any major wardrobe malfunctions, but one of the evening's most talked about fashionistas, Kate Hudson, revealed to ET's Nancy O'Dell afterwards at the Governor's Ball party that she had to be creative getting to the ceremony to avoid having a wardrobe malfunction.

"That's me, literally on my knees, not sitting in a seat," the 34-year-old actress said as she showed Nancy photo from inside the car captured on her mobile device. "You can't really sit in the dress and it's silk," she explained about the white, cleavage-bearing Atelier Versace gown designed by fashion icon Donatella Versace.

Kate added that at one point she was completely reclined during her one-hour ride to the Oscars to protect the silky dress, which Nancy said was definitely one of ET's top wardrobe looks of the night.

Also stopping by to chat at the Governor's Ball was Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, who reiterated her promotion of more women-themed films mentioned during her acceptance speech. "It feels in 2014 that it's a sad and sorry fact that we need to keep reminding ourselves that womens' films and not niche experiences, but people actually want to go and see them," she said.
