Justin Timberlake and Imagine Dragons win big at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards.

The 2014 Billboard Music Awards rocked the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday night, and were filled with electrifying performances, heartfelt acceptance speeches, and a really healthy dose of spectacle.

Justin Timberlake was the night's stand-out star, taking home seven trophies, including ones in the biggest categories of the night, Top Male Artist and the even bigger award, Top Artist.

Hip Hop artist Ludacris hosted the event, which featured performances by Iggy Azalea and Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull, Shakira, One Direction, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood, Miley Cyrus, and Robin Thicke, among others.

In one of the most talked-about performances of the evening, the late Michael Jackson was given new-life via hologram to perform the song Slave To The Rhythm off his newly-released posthumous album Xscape.

The sheer amount of live music and energetic performances invigorated the massive audience and the whole awards show felt more like a massive music festival with a few trophies handed out between sets, despite the fact that a large number of awards actually were presented.

Aside from Justin Timberlake scoring big,  Blurred Lines singers Robin Thicke, T.I. and Pharrell Williams also did well, bringing home four trophies for their mega-hit song. But even those three stars were beaten by the alt-rock Radioactive group Imagine Dragons, who won in an impressive five categories.
