ET is breaking down the who and the why when it comes to possible Emmy upsets with the help of GoldDerby.com's Tom O'Neil.

As the award show draws nearer, we've been hearing a lot about female frontrunners like Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Taylor Schilling, but according to Tom, it's Melissa McCarthy who could steal gold.

Tom pointed out that it wouldn't be the first time Melissa surprised her competitors.

"Melissa McCarthy staged an upset for best comedy actress in 2011," said Tom.

As for lead actors in comedy, Tom wouldn't be surprised if Ricky Gervais walked away with a statuette for his role in Derek.

"Here we see an emotionally stunted man who's a caregiver in a nursing home," said Tom. "And if you are not moved by this performance, there is a brick in your chest where your heart should be."
