The Oscars are still months away, but the race to win a golden statue really kicks into gear this weekend when Whiplash, The Judge, You're Not You and Pride all hit theaters.

Two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank is going for a hat trick in You're Not You. The film is a serious shot to the heart, telling the story of Kate (Swank), a woman struggling with ALS as she bonds with her unconventional caretaker (played by Emmy Rossum).

In Whiplash, Miles Teller clashes with J.K. Simmons, who plays a ruthless music instructor that inspires students through harsh methods. According to GoldDerby's Tom O'Neil, the movie could be inspiring Oscar votes when the ballots come around.

"The hottest Oscar contender is Whiplash," said O'Neil. "Not only is Simmons out front for Best Supporting Actor, this could be up for Best Picture. This could be for Best Director, Best Screenplay."

Robert Duvall's character in The Judge battles with his son (played by Robert Downey Jr.), who takes him on as a client in a murder trial. This makes for big family drama that's bound to grab the Academy's attention.
