Alicia Keys isn't trying to force her decisions on anyone else.
After the musician hit the MTV Video Music Awards white carpet sans makeup on Sunday, some people on the internet took offense to her fresh-faced look, assuming it was a stance against makeup in general.
On Monday, the 35-year-old GRAMMY winner set the record straight with a tweet.
Y'all, me choosing to be makeup free doesn't mean I'm anti-makeup. Do you! 😘😘 pic.twitter.com/Mg0Ug9YA9q— Alicia Keys (@aliciakeys) August 29, 2016
"Y'all, me choosing to be makeup free doesn't mean I'm anti-makeup," she wrote. "Do you!"
Keys' makeup-free style comes as no surprise as she has been at the forefront of the #NoMakeup movement this summer along with stars like Demi Lovato, Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kaley Cuoco, who have all shared pics of themselves in their natural beauty.
Keys has been so dedicated to her decision that she even vowed to go without makeup for her tapings on the upcoming season of The Voice, but just because she's not wearing makeup, doesn't mean she's giving up skincare.
The "Hallelujah" singer was all aglow at the VMAs, which might have had something to do with her plus one -- husband Swizz Beatz.
"Night out with my #1 #VMAs," she tweeted along with a picture of the happy couple backstage at Madison Square Garden on Sunday.
