Shortly after her acclaimed stint on Saturday Night Live, Tina Fey launched her own comedy series, 30 Rock, which immediately became nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series in the Emmys following its first season.
Fey and the 30 Rock gang won the award that night, beating out shows like The Office and Two and a Half Men. Award in hand, Fey is asked in the pressroom to compare her affection for the new show with SNL.

"I feel very connected to '30 Rock.' These characters and these stories are very, very special to me and I'm happy that people get to see them," Fey says, "but certainly my time at 'Saturday Night Live' was the most exciting time of my life. This show wouldn't be possible if I hadn't done ['SNL']"
Although the show was critically acclaimed from its first episode, its viewership didn't necessarily reflect the acclaim, but 30 Rock's ratings slightly increased in its second season after it received numerous awards that year.

"It means a lot to us," Fey said of wining the award. "Because we shoot in New York and were not the highest rated show, a lot of the times I feel like we're not even really on TV...so I think it kind of feels like it legitimizes us a little bit."
If Fey had any lingering doubts about the legitimacy of her show, they certainly perished the following year, when she received three Emmys, including Outstanding Lead Actress, for the show.
