ET has been covering the Emmys red carpet for over 30 years and as history has shown the stars like to hang loose on TV's biggest night! With this year's Emmys upon us once again, we're taking a look back at some of the most memorable and outrageous moments from the red carpet.
From John Ritter in 1987 to Jimmy Fallon in 2012, we've crossed paths with some of the funniest men in the business. Not to be outdone, funny ladies like Jackée Harry in 1986 and Tina Fey in 2013 made quite the impression with their wit and hilarious take on dressing for the big night.

One of the biggest topics of discussion on the 2012 Emmys red carpet was the Los Angeles heatwave! How did the stars keep cool? Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet revealed to Nancy O'Dell that stuffed ice packs in his pants in the limo ride over to the carpet. We still can't get over that one.
For many of this year's nominees this won't be the first time they are vying for the golden statuette. Reigning Outstanding Actress in a Drama champ, Claire Danes already has three Emmys to her name but we were with the Homeland star in 1995 when she earned her first Emmy nomination for her lead role in My So Called Life.

"Just to be nominated is enough for me. I'm very happy," a 16-year-old Claire told ET.
