Alec Baldwin Celebrates Emmy Win Backstage with ET
ET is backstage at the "61st Primetime Emmy Awards" with Alec Baldwin, who won the Emmy for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy series.
This is the second year Baldwin has won for his role in "30 Rock." He told Mary Hart, "I totally didn't think I was going to win." He continued, "I just thought we won everything last year and I thought this was the year they would move on and other people would have their day."
Baldwin said working on "30 Rock" is "the best job I've ever had." The cast gets along so well, he said, "If we could stop hugging each other, we could probably get the day done sooner."
Though "30 Rock" has won a lot of awards both this year and last, Baldwin acknowledges that the show's ratings aren't as high as other programs. He said, "Our show, the numbers have gone up, but it's not like we're a Charlie Sheen show." He also comments that "The Office" has huge ratings.
Baldwin says that the actors on "30 Rock" admire the talent of their writing staff and stick to the script. He said, "We try to do it as written. Our writers are so clever that there's so little we could say that could come out of our mouth that would be as clever as what they write...Then we might ad-lib a little bit every now and then."
