Kate Winslet: 'Genuine Honor' to be Nominated
Kate Winslet and husband Sam Mendes have both been nominated for their film 'Revolutionary Road' as well as Kate's nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 'The Reader' -- ET has the actress' reaction!
Kate has been nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture for 'Revolutionary Road' and Sam is up for Best Director for the same film.
"Playing April Wheeler and Hannah Schmitz, two strong and complex characters was a true gift. To be recognized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for both performances is a genuine honor and I am incredibly grateful. I am forever thankful to my husband Sam Mendes, [Leonardo DiCaprio] and fellow cast members and for Justin [Haythe's] beautiful script. I am equally proud to share this day with Stephen Daldry and David Hare."
Kate's film 'The Reader' follows the story of a man a decade after his affair with an older woman. Their relationship came to a mysterious end and law student Michael Burk encounters his former lover years later as she defends herself in a war-crime trial.
'Revolutionary Road' is a story about a couple living in the mid-1950's and struggling to deal with their personal problems while raising a family. Click here to see Leo's reaction to being nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture..
