Taylor Swift entered the 2010 Grammys with eight nominations and left with her arms full of four awards for her massively successful sophomore album Fearless. While each of those four awards glimmered the same as she cradled them in pressroom following the ceremony, one of them etched the young star into music history.
After being nominated for Best New Artist at the 2008 Grammys, Swift experienced immense success for her second country-pop album and was granted Best Country Song, Best Female Country Vocal Performance, Best Country Album, and the hallowed Album of the Year award. Having just turned 20 years old the month before the show, she made history that night by becoming the youngest ever to win the award.
"This is the dream come true," she said in the post-show pressroom. "I've never been presumptuous about dreams and when you have crazy dreams like, 'I wonder what it would be like to win a Grammy someday,' I never actually could fathom that it might happen until I was walking up there and winning one."
The success of Fearless transformed Swift into a megastar, so while the humble star would have loved to continue to field questions about her accolades, she had to keep her pressroom session short and sweet in order to make her flight for Australia to continue her first world tour.
When asked if she was going to celebrate the four Grammys on the plane to Australia, she replies, "I'm going to celebrate for the rest of my life!"
Two years later, Swift was awarded more Grammys to add to her lifelong celebration for her third album, Speak Now, taking home two awards in the country category. With seven Grammys in her trophy case, the now-24-year-old may add another Grammy to her collection with her four nominations for the 2014 Grammys, including Album of the Year, and Best Country Album, for her latest release, Red.
