It was a family night out when Christie Brinkley and her three kids attended a benefit at the Ross School.
It was a fun night out for CHRISTIE BRINKLEY, who took her three kids -- ALEXA RAY, JACK and SAILOR -- to the Starlight Ball, a fundraiser for the Ross School on Long Island, the quiet beachside enclave where the supermodel has chosen to raise her three kids.
Entertainment correspondent and journalist GINA GLICKMAN sat down with Christie and daughter Alexa capturing a "Day in the Life with Christie and Family," for an upcoming series to premiere soon on News 12 -- and tonight we have a first look at the upcoming news feature.
"Long Island is a magical place," the CoverGirl® spokesmodel says. "The jagged shoreline provides hours and hours of adventures. You know, just discovery -- the shells, the rocks, the beaches, the boating, the farmland and the mix of people. You get a great cross-section of people. So, I think it gives you really great insight. It's a beautiful place to grow up."
Christie was surprised at the Starlight Ball when she was honored with the establishment of the Christie Brinkley Scholarship, which will enable a student entering Ross High School next year to receive four years' tuition at Ross.
"I am so touched, I am so honored, and I am going to cry. I had no idea," Brinkley said when she was surprised with the announcement.
Christie's daughter Alexa (with ex-husband BILLY JOEL) graduated from the school, and her son Jack (by RICHARD TAUBMAN) is currently enrolled there.
"My son is in his second year at the Ross School and he is loving every second," the proud mother continued. "He literally cannot get to school early enough in the morning. I don't have to tell him to do his homework. He really wants to do well. I think when a school inspires that, it is really something. And my daughter Alexa attended the school for seven years. I think she is a shining example of the kind of person this school turns out."
Alexa, who has launched a music career since graduating from Ross, returned to give a special performance to help raise funds so that other children can have the opportunity of getting the same education from which she benefitted.
"It's really nice to be able to honor both my mom and my old high school at once," she told Glickman, "because they've always done so much for me. She always comes to all my shows, and always is there for me. It's really, really nice to be able to do something for her."
Brinkley's response? "Aren't I the luckiest mom? I mean, I really am."
