If this comes to fruition, Cate Blanchett will make for one beautiful wicked stepmother in Disney's Cinderella remake.
Deadline is reporting that the Oscar winner, 43, is poised to play Lady Tremaine in the live action retelling of the classic tale. The film has lots of Hollywood heavyweights in its corner already. The glass slipper story will be produced by Simon Kinberg, who is reportedly signed on for the new Star Wars movies, and will directed by Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go, One Hour Photo).
In the meantime, Blanchett can soon be seen on the big screen in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
Do you think the actress is right for the role of the wicked stepmother?
