Anne Hathaway went through a grueling process to take on the role of the tragic Fantine in Les Miserables, revealing to The Hollywood Reporter that she eventually just stopped eating.
The actress, 29, dropped 25 pounds to play the dieing prostitute, 10 pounds in three weeks prior to filming and then another 15 pounds during production. "I just had to stop eating all for a total of 13 days shooting," Hathaway told THR.

Hathaway, who also cut her hair for the role, admitted that she almost didn't land the Oscar buzz-worthy role. "There was resistance because I was between their ideal ages for the parts — maybe not mature enough for Fantine but past the point where I could believably play [Fantine’s daughter] Cosette (Amanda Seyfried)."

The actress added, "And I did what I do when I really want a role: I got fiery and told my agent, 'Just get me in the room.'"
