From the looks of the new Oblivion trailer, this futuristic film has Tom Cruise in a hero role he knows all too well.

Cruise's character Jack Harper (same first name as his other upcoming part in Jack Reacher) has him on the "mop-up crew" after half the Earth was destroyed during a battle of which the world won (much like his film War of the Worlds).

Jack's mission is destroy the remains of an alien race, but the arrival of an unexpected traveler (bad guy and crazily dressed Morgan Freeman) causes him to question what he knows about the planet, his mission, and himself.
