She's one of the biggest Hollywood actresses in the game right now, and yet Anne Hathaway admits that she was never seen as a woman who had "sex appeal."
"I'm not Rihanna. I'm not cool," the Les Miserables star tells Harper's Bazaar UK. "When people come up to me in the street, they often want a hug not a photo, and they want that because they like my work."
The actress, who got her big break in the teen films The Princess Diaries, said of her once squeaky clean persona, "I was seen as this bizarre-world good-girl cartoon that I in no way identified with – very vanilla, very sweet, very accessible and not interesting. I had no grit, no sex appeal."
Hathaway, who just turned 30 in November, adds, "It doesn't help that the new crop of girls is so gorgeous, and so 22 years old. But I'm excited about it."
There is one man (at least) who thinks the Oscar-nominated actress has sex appeal, her new husband Adam Shulman. "I knew from the second I met him that he was the love of my life," she gushes to the fashion magazine. "He walks into a room, and I light up. I can't help it."
