Would You Watch Anderson Cooper On 'TODAY'?

A recent report by trade website Deadline claims that Anderson Cooper is in talks to take over for Matt Lauer on TODAY, but NBC is telling ET another story.

"We are not considering replacing Matt Lauer. As we’ve said before, Matt is the best in the business. We want him in the TODAY show anchor chair for many years to come," network exec Alex Wallace tells ET.

Nellie Andreeva of Deadline says her sources tell her that the network would like to replace Lauer, 55, with Cooper, 45, by the end of the year. "After their initial approach to Cooper, I hear NBC reached out to Lauer to get his blessing about the changeover. But I heard they got push-back from the Today veteran, who contacted Cooper to express his disapproval," Andreeva writes. "I also hear that call caught Cooper by surprise, as he had assumed Lauer had been brought on board before NBC began making overtures."

Meanwhile, NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams was asked by David Letterman about the network transition rumors, Jimmy Fallon is also thought to be taking over the Tonight Show soon, but kept mum on the subject. "It was crazy so NBC said, 'We gotta put an end to this because it's the Today Show.' So now they come up with these crazy stories about the other end of the programming day, the Tonight Show," the Late Show host pitched Williams his conspiracy theory on Tuesday. The newsman, looking uncomfortable, quietly sipped his water and murmured, "Oh, good Lord."

What do you think? Would you watch Cooper on the morning show, or would you rather see Lauer stay on TODAY?
