As the clock struck 12:36 a.m. on the East Coast Monday night, Jay Leno was seen bidding adieu to his Tonight Show audience and getting on the phone with Late Night host Jimmy Fallon. The NBC stars decided to address the rumors that Fallon will be taking over for Leno in the best way they knew how, through song.
To the tune of Westside Story's Tonight, the hosts sing their sorrows regarding the media circus surrounding their shows. "Tonight, tonight. Why do they say we fight? I like you. You like me. We're okay. Tonight, tonight, who cares who hosts Tonight? We both just want our line the next day," the men chirped over the phone to one another.
"Tonight, tonight, my ratings were all right. Twenty years, and I'm still in first place," Leno, 62, belts out. "Tonight, tonight, I've got Fox on the line. Or maybe I could take over for Dave?"
Fallon, 39, sings, "Only you, every night you throw to me, Jay Leno. In the news, all they do is say 'I'm replacing you.' They think I can woo the demo."
