Meredith Vieira Returns to TV

July 10, 2013

The beloved co-host is now the host! Following her stints on the TODAY show and The View, Meredith Vieira is returning to daytime television! NBC announced that the 59-year-old TV personality has landed her own hour-long talk show.

The Meredith Vieira Show is scheduled to premiere this fall, and will be taped in Gotham on a set that resembles Vieira's home, Variety reports. Like former TODAY co-host Katie Couric's show, the program will include "human- interest stories, lifestyle segments and sit-downs with celebs along with everyday people," according to the trade publication.

"As a journalist on TODAY and 60 Minutes, I learned how to really listen to people and help give them a voice. On The View, I unleashed my own opinionated self and discovered the empowerment that comes with sometimes heated, but always respectful, discussion," Vieira says of her qualifications. "And on [Who Wants to Be a Millionaire], I relished the joy of changing people's lives while having pure fun."

She adds, "All of these experiences, along with being a wife and mom, have led me here because they all share one common denominator... this fundamental need we have to connect with and find inspiration in each other."
