Bale Battles Harrelson In 'Out of the Furnace'

July 12, 2013

Christian Bale's last brotherly role in The Fighter earned him an Oscar win, but will his new part in Out of the Furnace as the protective sibling of Casey Affleck bring him back to the Academy Awards? Only time will tell, but the new trailer for this action drama is a must-see!

Bale plays Russell Blaze who attempts to take on one of the top dogs in illegal fighting (Woody Harrelson) after his brother Rodney Baze (Affleck) mysteriously goes missing. When law enforcement, headed up by Forest Whitaker's character Wesley Barnes, fails to follow through with the search of Rodney, Russell takes matters into his own hands to find justice.

The film boasts an array of Oscar nominees and A-listers. In addition to Bale, Affleck, Harrelson and Whitaker, Star Trek Into Darkness actress Zoe Saldana and Boondock Saints actor Willem Dafoe also star in the movie. Oscar nominee Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) directed the flick.

Out of the Furnace hits theaters Dec. 6, 2013. After checking out the trailer, do you think the film has got what it takes to go to the Oscars?
