"Everyone takes the VMAs so seriously and I just wanna come out and like shoot a hot dog gun." In the new MTV documentary Miley: The Movement, the Wrecking Ball singer attempts to explain her controversial, highly sexual persona, even seeking advice from veteran pop star Britney Spears.
"You're always gonna make people talk, you might as well make them talk for like two weeks, rather than two seconds," Cyrus, 20, says, defending her recent MTV Video Music Awards performance. "I just wanna have fun."
While many find her new image a bit offensive, especially after she appeared nude on a wrecking ball in her new video, the former Hannah Montana star says she's perfectly secure in her own skin. "I was like born to become who I am right now. Right now I'm at a point in my career where I can be exactly who I wanna be, what I wanna be."
Cyrus, who recently announced that her engagement to Liam Hemsworth is off, adds, "I have this freedom to do whatever I want because I'm starting as a new artist now. Every time I do anything I wanna remember this is what separates me from everybody else."
