Though never calling out Miley Cyrus by name, Jennifer Lawrence did bite into the entertainment industry, and the role models they're presenting to young women. When asked on BBC's Newsnight about the "sexualization of young women," where the interviewer refers to Miley, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire actress reacts, "It is a part of the entertainment industry that sells. Sex sells, and for some disgusting reason young sex sells even more."
Lawrence, 23, added, "For some people, that's how they feel best, that's how they feel sexy."
As for this Oscar winner, she intends to set a good example. "We have the ability to control this image that young girls are going to be seeing [in The Hunger Games]... girls see enough of this body that they will never be able to obtain... It's an amazing opportunity to rid ourselves of that in this industry."
She continued, "I don't think you make a decision to be a role model. I didn't set out to be one at all. It's something that just happens when you're in the spotlight you just have to look at what you want the younger generation to hear."
That being said, the actress hasn't always shied away from sexy shoots. When asked about her racy spread in GQ magazine when she was 20, Lawrence responded, "It was a PR move basically, that I was completely comfortable with. I don't have any regrets about that."
Do you agree with Lawrence?
