When checking out The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, audiences should keep their eyes peeled for Stephen Colbert and his entire family.
The 49-year-old Comedy Central host revealed on the Late Show With David Letterman on Monday night that director Peter Jackson invited him, his wife and two sons down to New Zealand to hang on The Hobbit set, and in turn shoot a scene.
According to IMDB, Colbert and his family play Laketown spies. "We're in a scene in Laketown. I don't wanna say, it's kind of a 'Where's Waldo' [scenario.]"
Though Colbert wouldn't go into detail about his role in the epic film, he did say that he was disappointed he wasn't cast as an elf. "I already have one pointed ear," Colbert shared as he showed Letterman, 66, his right ear. "Once I show you this, you can never un-see it."
The Hobbit sequel hits theaters Dec. 13, 2013.
