It came down to three finalists on Tuesday night, Tessanne Chin and Will Champlin of Team Adam Levine and Jacquie Lee of Team Christina Aguilera, but there could only be one winner on The Voice season 5. WARNING: Spoilers ahead!
After stand-out performances by Celine Dion, Lady Gaga, Aguilera and the contestants themselves, Tessanne Chin was crowned the winner.
This victory comes just one night after the 28-year-old backup singer from Jamaica wowed audiences with her rendition of I Have Nothing by the late Whitney Houston. "You are just capable of anything and it blows me away," her team leader Levine said following her performance. "I know in my mind and heart you are the winner of this show."
Upon hearing her name announced as the winner by show host Carson Daly, an overwhelmed Chin dropped to her knees. "It's just been an amazing journey and I could not do this without the little island of Jamaica," Chin said prior to her big win. "But I most importantly could not do it without the amazing new family and supporters I have here in the U.S. Thank you for accepting me and thank you for bringing me this far."
Levine showed his support following Chin's win, tweeting:
