Amanda Bynes' mom is claiming that her daughter doesn't suffer from a mental illness, but rather it was the weed that is to blame for her bizarre behavior.
"Amanda has no mental illness whatsoever. She has never been diagnosed as schizophrenic or bipolar," Lynn Bynes told E! News.
The What I Like About You star began to make headlines after her 2012 DUI, and later for a series of strange tweets and for throwing a bong out of a New York City building.
Her mom explains this behavior by saying she was under the influence of drugs. "[Amanda] is very sorry for all the hurtful tweets, statements and actions that occurred while she was under the influence of marijuana."
These remarks follow Amanda's lawyer's statement that shoots down the theory that the starlet suffers from schizophrenia. "[Amanda] has remained silent because she believed it was best to keep her mental health diagnosis private. However, she asked me to dispel certain rumors. For the record, Amanda does not have schizophrenia, nor has she ever been diagnosed with it," attorney Tamar Arminak said on Wednesday (via E!).
Her lawyer added that Amanda is on "zero medication" and is "devoted to living her life as healthy as possible."
The 28-year-old actress was hospitalized in May 2013, but now remains under the care of her parents. Do you believe Amanda's mom?
