Do these scenes look familiar? Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd star in a romantic comedy about a couple whose "real life" is like a romantic comedy. They Came Together sets out to shed a light on all the cliches found in the rom-com movie genre.
From the makers of Wet Hot American Summer and Role Models, Michael Showalter and David Wain, the movie follows Molly (Poehler) and Joel (Rudd), who first meet in a bookstore over their love of fiction. "You like fiction books? I've never met anyone else who likes fiction. That is too funny," Molly exclaims.
From there, the movie takes viewers on an all-too-familiar journey through the ups and downs of this couple's life together.
In addition to Poehler and Rudd, the chick flick also stars a number of other funny people. The Office's Ed Helms and Ellie Kemper, How I Met Your Mother star Colbie Smulders, Boardwalk Empire's Michael Shannon, Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader and New Girl's Max Greenfield all show up in the rom-com.
They Came Together hits theaters and VOD on June 27. Do you find the trailer funny? Play movie critic in the comments.
