The 'Shape of You' singer has had a big year, and his grandpa would certainly be proud.

Ed Sheeran's grandpa would be proud.

The "Shape of You" singer opened up about meeting Prince Charles during an interview on Friday's Today show, revealing that he'd only wished his late relative could have seen it.

"My granddad is a huge royalist, big fan of the royal family. And he died four years ago yesterday," the 26-year-old singer shared. "My dad was like, 'You know, he probably would have got really emotional and stuff.'"

Sheeran's grandfather certainly would have a lot to be proud of, with the year the singer-songwriter has had. In addition to "Shape of You" becoming the most streamed song on Spotify ever and Sheeran's album divide topping the charts, during his royal meeting, he was honored with the distinction of Member of the Order of the British Empire.

During the interview, Sheeran also revealed that he will be releasing yet another version of "Perfect" next Friday, following his duet with Beyonce, featuring legendary opera singer, Andre Bocelli, whose verse will be in Italian.

"It's just kind of like a little present for Christmas. There's a really beautiful video that comes with it," he teased.

Sheeran also had some fun on set, at one point, sneaking a slice of pizza during a cooking segment with chef Christopher Bianco and proved he is all of us when a cooking segment with pizza.

Meanwhile, during an interview earlier this month with ET's Keltie Knight, Sheeran left the door open for doing a royal wedding performance for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's upcoming nuptials.

"I feel like all Americans ask English people like, 'Hey, do you know the queen?' And like, well I have met her, that is quite a true fact, but I don't know Harry that well," he explained. "I get asked this all the time like I know the Royal family. I've met Harry once! [And] that was in 2011 at his grans' Jubilee, and it was like, 'Hey.' 'Hey'... I barely know him!"

OK, fair point, but with that being said, Sheeran did say he would consider playing the wedding, "if I was free.”
