Inside the Top-Secret Casting for The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is coming! The New York City event airs Tuesday, November 30 on CBS, and we're front-and-center for the casting callbacks!
Women ranging from as far as Sweden, Australia and Spain came in for the chance to be in the show. Catwalk hopeful Therese said of the audition, "It's kind of nerve-wracking having people watching you and judging you, but it was fun." Another hopeful, Ariel, added, "I just stayed calm. I feel like if you were nervous, it comes off and everyone can see that."
Ariel also said that no specific diet is necessary to prepare for the show: "[Victoria's Secret has] curvy, they have small, they have all different shapes and sizes, so I don't think there's a diet [regimen you can follow]," she said. "I think you just have to be confident in your skin and just work it."
Shannon, a model who has done the show twice before and also works for the Victoria's Secret catalog, says the secret to staying fit is, "Good genetics. And you have to feel good about yourself inside. I think that radiates most."
Once again this year, world-famous Victoria's Secret Angels -- including Adriana Lima, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Candice Swanepoel, Chanel Iman and Erin Heatherton -- will star in the hot-ticket lingerie runway show that also includes performances by Katy Perry and Akon, red carpet interviews, model profiles and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the world's most celebrated fashion show.
Monica Mitro, an executive producer of the annual show, has been casting it for 16 years, since the beginning. She told ET, "It's really difficult because we see a lot of great girls. … They come in here in their bras and panties, and normally that's not the way castings go, but we have to see how everything looks together. … They literally have to be perfect."
So what makes the perfect casting choice for the show? "The first thing we look for, really, are healthy bodies, and energy," said Monica. "You can tell -- they have a special something about them; a spark, everything's perfect, the personality's there."
Of newlywed Katy Perry's participation, Monica reports, "Katy's performing and everyone is so excited about it because she's so involved. …We feel like she really fits with our brand; she's young and sexy and she wears anything. She's a very 'fashion' girl, so it's been really exciting to collaborate with her on her outfits."
