Vera Wang has designed gowns for plenty of celebrity events, including Jessica Simpson's first wedding gown, and the fashion icon told ET how she would design Kate Middleton's royal wedding gown if chosen for the task.
"I think a lot of pomp and circumstance," said Vera. "I think because of her stature and the fact that she will someday be queen of England, undoubtedly… I think it should reflect who she is and her place in history."
Vera launches WHITE by Vera Wang today, a more affordable line of wedding gowns available exclusively through David's Bridal.
"It's about all wonderful, happy brides that are about to get married and embark on the journey of their lives," said Vera. "These are very special dresses conceived with design and thought and care."
After decades of designing for the rich and famous, the fashion magnate relished the opportunity to touch the lives of regular people, saying, "As a designer, to me you're only as valid as the people you can affect… And because of David's I'm able to reach more brides in a way that I feel is valid for my brand and for my name."
Vera's new dresses will be priced from around $600 to approximately $1,400 with sizes that will eventually range from zero to twenty-six.
