Ireland Baldwin's Family's Reaction to Modeling

Ireland Baldwin, teenage daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, has launched her own career as a model. When ET went exclusively inside her recent Elle photo shoot, we found out what her family thinks about her budding modeling career.

"I think everyone's really happy for me," the 17-year-old model said. "It's been, so far, just such a fun ride. They're really happy that it's building confidence for me and it's getting me out there, so I think that everyone's just motivating me to keep going with it."

Baldwin, whose mother began her Hollywood career modeling, divulges that even though talent runs strong in the family gene pool, she needed some time to acclimate to modeling.

"Oh my gosh yeah," she responded when asked if she ever got nervous while modeling. "I used to stand there [and] I had no idea what to do at all. It takes so much time to really get used to your body and your angles and what looks good and what completely doesn't."

Despite her short stint as a model, Baldwin, who was two years old when her mother delivered her Oscar-winning performance in L.A. Confidential, shared the most important lesson she's learned thus far.

"You just got to really be yourself when you're at these things," she said. "You just can't tighten up and you can't get nervous. The moment you're nervous you're going to screw the whole thing up."

Although she's launched her career through modeling, Baldwin revealed that she has plans to follow in the footsteps of her parents and get into acting in the near future.

"Hopefully, I'll be beginning acting school by then," she said of turning 18 in October. "[I'll be] just getting a little bit more serious about life...definitely kind of just trekking forward, onward with my journey."

While Baldwin only just recently began modeling, she has received plenty of exposure, not only due to her celebrity bloodline but also because of her prolific usage of social media.

"For me, the reason why I'm so out there with [social media]...is because it's kind of like a virtual diary," she said."...Social media's what I use to remember the fun and just keep it alive and keep it out there forever. Sometimes you can go a little bit too far, but still, it's just for fun."
