Though Nicki Minaj often flaunts her toned figure in skin-tight dresses, according to the 30-year-old rapper, she doesn't works out -- in fact, she claims that hitting the gym actually has a negative effect on her famous figure.

"I don't work out. I hate it. I don't mean to sound super lazy," Minaj surprisingly says when asked about her normal workout routine in a Q&A with her Twitter fans for her Marie Claire August cover interview. "I tried it for a time. I lost my boobs."

However, she does diet to maintain her physique.

"When I feel I need to lose weight, I just change what I eat," she explains. "I cut out carbs and sugar. I'll do water and protein and fruit. But I do think that you should work out."

In the interview, Minaj also dishes on her experience judging American Idol -- where she was a controversial figure to say the least.

"I learned so much about myself, like how perception is reality," she says about her one-season gig. "The perception that people had of me completely changed because there are no cue cards, there's no script, it wasn't me performing a song. It was, 'Let's see your real personality.' My core is a genuine human being who roots for other people. I didn't want to blow smoke up their ass. I wanted every contestant to leave with something that they could remember."

Uncharacteristically, Minaj -- who's known for her brazen sense of confidence -- also admits to the magazine that she's nervous about her very first film role, in which she'll be playing an assistant to lawyer Cameron Diaz in The Other Woman.

Directed by Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook, My Sister's Keeper), the comedy is set to hit theaters on April 25, 2014.

"I would be lying if I said I was not nervous," she admits. "I can't blow this."

The August issue of Marie Claire hits newsstands July 16.
