Photographed by Annie Leibovitz, the 21-year-old supermodel is seen in a vintage off-white bathing suit about to blow out a celebratory candle for the magazine. "I’m not going to name names, but one agency told me, 'You're too American, and everybody knows American women are lazy,'" Upton, who's claim to fame came after her Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover, reveals to VF. "I was so offended! I've never been so offended! I was like, 'You know that you're in America, right?' And it wasn't 'American models'—it was 'American women are lazy,’ period! I feel like a lot of women would disagree with that. A lot!"

The October issue of Vanity Fair hits newsstands in New York and Los Angeles on Sept. 5, and nationally on the iPad, Nook, and Kindle on Sept. 10. What do you think? Is this Upton's sexiest cover yet?
