Olsen Twins: We've Worn Chanel Since 'Full House'

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen recently gave a rare interview with luxury online fashion retailer Net-a-Porter's magazine The Edit, in which they reveal that their notoriously pricey style actually started much earlier than some people might assume -- in fact, they've been wearing the likes of Chanel and Marc Jacobs since their Full House days.
"[On Full House] we'd be in six-hour fittings three times a week, because we had to wear 12 different outfits," Ashley explains.
And it turns out the majority of the twins' wardrobe was actually made up of adult pieces -- including "Chanel and Marc Jacobs, cut to fit."
"We were designing clothes for ourselves as we were so petite," Mary-Kate says. "So I think that is when we became obsessed with fit, and now the obsession has become a profession."
In fact, their critically acclaimed high-fashion label The Row got started through their hunt for the perfect T-shirt in 2006, with both girls "obsessed" with fabric and fit.
"We saw a space in the market," Ashley says. "We knew there wasn't another brand offering basics in a luxurious and contemporary way. If I wear certain designer brands, or too much of something, I look crazy, and I need something to break it up. If you are wearing a Chanel jacket and you need an anonymous piece that will show just how special that jacket is, I hope that is what The Row gives you. ... Anonymity is a word we talk about all the time, in life and in clothes."
But it's hard to remain anonymous when you're one of the Olsen twins, who've been famous practically since birth.
"We were nine months old when we started, so fame has always been part of our lives. There wasn't any weirdness where we decided that we wanted to be famous," Ashley explains. "Then as we got older, we were very fortunate that we could hire and work with amazing people who want to protect us."
So what's next for the Olsen twins?
Well, just don't expect their fashion domination to end anytime soon.
"[We're] really focused on The Row at the moment," Mary-Kate says.
