Is there such a thing as being too fashionable?

Apparently there is a downside to being constantly photographed in the latest runway fashion -- according to Rihanna's famed stylist Mel Ottenberg, who's credited for turning Rihanna into the high fashion icon she is today, it's that she's actually run out of clothes to wear.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, Ottenberg explains the seemingly impossible dilemma. Though for most women, the fall/winter collections of most brands won't be available in stores for several months, for Rihanna, these clothes are already considered "old news."

"It's the end of May,” Ottenberg tells the Times, "and we've already used up all of fall/winter. It's over."

In the revealing interview, he also spills secrets about Rihanna's most memorable fashion moments, such as her hipster chic look for her music video We Found Love.

"She's wearing my boyfriend's clothes in so much of that video," he reveals.

"... My whole thing was she’s so beautiful, she's so over the top, she doesn't need so much stuff," he says of the now-signature look he worked with her to create. "We can strip it down."

Another surprising secret?

The incredible time constraints he works under.

"I get her dressed for some of her biggest red-carpet things in three minutes," he said. "That's all I really have."

But whatever stress he's under, clearly it's working -- Rihanna will be honored by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) next week with the prestigious Fashion Icon of 2014 award.
