Though she was once known for her outrageous makeup and questionable outfits, looks like Kesha, 27, is ready to leave all of the costume behind.

Kesha, who took the dollar sign out of her name and has noticeably toned down her look since entering rehab for an eating disorder in January, dished to Teen Vogue that she's now re-thinking her beauty standards.

"I remember thinking, I don't want to be pretty. Don't call me pretty," she says in a new interview with the magazine for their August 2014 cover. "If somebody called me that, it was almost offensive -- I would put on more eyeliner or draw things down my face. There was a defining moment about six months ago -- I think it was a breakup -- where I decided that maybe I do want to try to be pretty. I want to just try."

In the candid new interview, she also clears up all the rumors about her rehab stint.

"Let's just get the elephant out of the room. My eating disorder is something I've been struggling with for a while," she reveals. "People will make up stories, but I went to rehab for an eating disorder -- nothing more and nothing less."

She also admits that her last album Warrior, which spawned the huge hit Die Young, might of had something to do with it.

"Making my last record, Warrior, was a pretty miserable process, and it wore my spirit down," she reveals. "I was fighting like hell to keep my whole irreverent essence and everything raw and visceral that I stand for in it, but in the end I was promoting something that wasn't the animal I wanted it to be. I decided to face my problem head-on."

But she now has a more mature perspective on her former party girl reputation – and why she's leaving it behind.

"I have a public persona where I need to be fun all the time, and I refuse to be a hypocrite. I felt I needed to get help, not only for myself but also for my fans," she reflects. "My worst fear in life is to be fake."
