Lady Gaga: My Clothes Have a Soul and I Can See It

Lady Gaga's clothes have their own soul.

Legendary Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld chats with Lady Gaga for Harper's Bazaar's September issue, in which the two discuss her always-talked about style and ever-evolving fashion.

Surprisingly, Gaga reveals that her much-photographed street style is actually not pre-planned.

"I don't have my looks planned, but it's a nice compliment to suggest so. I bring lots of vintage pieces with me -- jewels, hats, bags -- and I'm also very fortunate to get sent beautiful couture and runway looks all over the world," she says. "Right now I'm enjoying feeling like a lady. Wearing dresses, in love, walking Asia [her French bulldog] in gardens, singing jazz with Tony Bennett … "

Currently, she's into vintage finds and looks for clothes that have their own "soul."

"I love wearing clothes knowing that I'm carrying the spirit of previous fashionistas, and living out more of their fantasies, and my own," she says. "I believe clothes carry the soul of the designer and the person wearing them forever, so I look for clothes with a soul. Perhaps it's something only I can see. But I know it's real."

But Gaga -- rocking Chanel of course -- isn't the only gorgeous Harper's Bazaar September cover girl.

Penelope Cruz (in Dior) and supermodel Linda Evangelista (in Comme Des Garcons) also grace the cover for the high-fashion magazine's biggest issue ever.
