On the Friday night before her wedding, Amal Alamuddin wore this stunning scarlet and black Alexander McQueen Resort collection dress.

The 36-year-old human rights lawyer perfectly paired the dress with red lipstick.

Back in 2011, at a White House state dinner, First Lady Michelle Obama wore this similar dress from the same Alexander McQueen Resort collection. At the time, her fashion choice raised attention because
some claimed its red color paid homage to China.

The Daily Beast found the political meaning behind it and wrote, "The sleeveless dress, with its asymmetrical neckline, was created by a house that represents the designer imagination at its most indulgent and devilish. And in wearing the gown to honor China, a country that many view with disdain for its abundance of cheap labor, counterfeit products, and poor labor practices, Mrs. Obama seemed to be recognizing the country's inevitable place in the fashion cycle and giving it its due."

While Amal didn’t make a political statement, both women looked amazing in Alexander McQueen. So who do you think wore the designer best?
