Designer Tom Ford and Rihanna have made no secret of their mutual admiration for one another -- the latest example being Rihanna's stunning white Tom Ford gown at the amfAR Inspiration Gala on Oct. 29 -- but the A-list designer took it one step further recently by penning an ode to Rihanna's assets.
Oh, you remember.
"I was at the CFDA awards as I was receiving a 'Lifetime Achievement Award' .... and I have to say that Rihanna was for me, that night, one of the most beautiful women that I have ever beheld," Ford gushes. "I had designed several things for her specifically for that evening which she did not wear, but when I saw her it did not matter. I whispered into her ear that she was right not to have worn one of my dresses that night because she looked more beautiful than I have ever seen her look. She was stunning."
His husband Richard Buckley clearly agreed.
"As Richard said plainly after the evening, 'If you are as beautiful as Rihanna, you almost owe it to the world to appear in public almost nude' and I have to say that I wholeheartedly concur," Ford wrote.
Rihanna returned the love right back on her Twitter, tweeting, "i.heart.Tom.Ford."
When receiving the CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award in May, Ford made the bold statement that Rihanna's Instagram is actually more influential than any fashion review.
"Something new is happening that I'm just clueing into now -- this probably won't go down well -- but customers don't care anymore about reviews or hard-copy publications," he told The Cut. "They care what picture Rihanna just Instagrammed while she's naked in bed, what new shoes she has on, how she's talking about them. That's what they respond to."
And we can bet Ford is currently rejoicing. Rihanna recently rejoined Instagram on Tuesday after quitting in May, when her high-profile account was shut down after posting a few racy topless shots.
Instagram has also come under fire recently from celebrities like Chelsea Handler, who recently called out their anti-nudity policy as sexist.
