Ashley opted for white for their rare appearance, pairing her bohemian frock with a black leather clutch, and rocking natural, loose waves. Mary-Kate wore a dress in her signature hue, black, styling it with a long-sleeved black tweed coat, platform wedges and green-and-silver earrings.

Mary-Kate's husband, Olivier Sarkozy, was also in attendance, sporting a classic black tuxedo. He was all smiles while chatting with one of the young "stars of tomorrow" ballerinas at the gala performance, which featured guest performers from the world's leading dance companies.

Last month, the 30-year-old twins opened up about balancing fame, fashion and freedom in a rare interview with Net-a-Porter's The EDIT.

"I think we're lucky [working hard] comes quite naturally for us. We don't need so much time to sit and think and ponder," Mary-Kate explained. "But then I have a husband, two step-kids and a life; I have to go home and cook dinner."

"We don't dive into that whole world [of social media] and we don't have Facebook, we've never been connected to our fans in that way," added Ashley. "We've stayed quite sheltered in that sense."
