"The Waltons" remains the essential family-friendly TV series, which has aired continually since it ceased producing new episodes in 1981. In the sixth season, John Boy (RICHARD THOMAS) comes home from New York; Grandma Esther (ELLEN CORBY) is finally released from the hospital into the care of her family; Mary Ellen (JUDY NORTON-TAYLOR) and Curt (TOM BOWER) welcome a baby boy; John (RALPH WAITE) and Olivia (MICHAEL LEARNED) celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary and John discovers the family is nearly out of their debt. But the joy is fleeting when it's set against the tragedy of events in the outside world. As the fall of 1939 turns into the spring of 1940, war rages in Europe and the Waltons are soon caught in its chilling grasp. All 26 episodes are included on a five-disc set.
