Backstory: Embry was one of Jacob's two best friends before he mysteriously began hanging out with Sam, Jared and Paul, leading Jacob to believe he was in a gang with them. It turned out, however, that Embry had become a werewolf before Jacob, and that's why he was spending time with the guys.
