In a surprising turn of events, wild couple Jesse James and Kat Von D announced their engagement on Thursday.
Dating since last summer, the tattooed reality duo began their full-fledged romance after the biker boy's June 2010 divorce from Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock. Last March, the world became fixated with the bad boy when, just days after 'The Blind Side' actress won her Best Actress Oscar, the "Jesse James is a Dead Man" star was involved in a shocking sex scandal involving various other women, including tattoo model Michelle "Bombshell" McGee. The result was a media firestorm and public outcry over his actions. In a May interview with "Nightline,' James referred to himself as "The most hated man in the world."
Seemingly unfazed by the last year's disgrace, James has said of his new engagement: "You know sometimes the public and press gets it wrong. This is one of those times. 2010 was actually the best year of my life because I fell in love with my best friend. An amazing woman who stood behind me when the world turned their backs."
