On February, 8 2007, model and television personality Anna Nicole Smith died in a Hollywood, Florida hotel room from an overdose of prescription drugs. In 1992, Hugh Hefner selected Smith to appear on the cover of the March issue of Playboy. Smith then replaced supermodel Claudia Schiffer in the Guess jeans ad campaign. On June 27, 1994, 26-year-old Smith married 89-year-old oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall. A great deal of controversy ensued from the May December marriage. Thirteen months after the marriage, Marshall died on August 4, 1995, in Houston. Subsequently a 15-year battle ensued between Anna Nicole and Marshall's children over the oil man's $1.6 billion estate. Anna then continued to model and also appear on her own reality TV show, The Anna Nicole Show. Anna became the fodder for her tabloids for her increasingly outrageous behavior and her yo-yoing weight.
On June 1, 2006 Anna announced her pregnancy. On September 7, 2006, Dannielynn Hope Marshall was born at Doctors Hospital in Nassau, Bahamas. In a shocking turn of events, Smith's 20-year-old son, Daniel Smith, died on September 10, 2006 in his mother's hospital room while visiting her and his sister. Just months later, Anna was found dead in her hotel room.
February 8, 2012 marked the five-year anniversary of Smith's death. Take a look at a woman who lived life to the extreme at every turn.
