Grease is the word! One of America's favorite musicals is back on Broadway in a brand new production, and the cast just got a visit from iconic star Olivia Newton-John. The four-time Grammy Award winner and the Grease troupe have teamed up to spread the word about breast cancer awareness.
The competition is about to begin, but first the Final 24 take time out to party in Hollywood.
Just one day after getting closer to making their dreams come true, the "American idol" Top 24 semi-finalists celebrated their achievement with a party at The Day After in Hollywood. ET was on the red carpet for all the "Idol" action.
TAYLOR HICKS is the newest "American Idol," and even if your favorite singer didn't win the competition, you can relive your favorite "Idol" moments with Season 5 Encores!
The "American Idol" bubble has burst with the naming of TAYLOR HICKS as the new "Idol," so now the Final 10 will be leaving Hollywood and heading out across the U.S. The Pop Tarts Presents American Idols Live Tour, scheduled for a record-breaking 60 cities, begins on July 5 in Manchester, NH at the Verizon Wireless Arena and winds down on September 24 in Wilkes-Barre, PA at the Wachovia Center.
But first, the entire gang -- ACE YOUNG, BUCKY COVINGTON, CHRIS DAUGHTRY, KATHARINE McPHEE, KELLIE PICKLER, KEVIN COVAIS, LISA TUCKER, MANDISA, MELISSA McGHEE, PARIS BENNETT and this year's "Idol" -- visit the ET set and give viewers a sample of what they have to look forward to at the concert dates.
Two self-proclaimed less-than-stellar performances saw the end of KELLIE PICKLER's "American Idol" dreams last Wednesday night, but the 19-year-old from Albemarle, NC, says she wasn't surprised, because, in reality, she expected to go home the week before.
"I deserved to get the boot this week because I had two bad performances back-to-back," Kellie admits. "There's no excuse. So I can't complain about anything because that would be really ungrateful. I'm happy to have made it this far. I never in a million years thought that when I was sitting in the Greensboro Coliseum they would have given me another look, but I'm very fortunate to have met the wonderful people that I've met in this competition. I couldn't ask for anything more."
The "Idol" contestants faced some stiff competition last week, but even a suit and tie couldn't save the suave ACE YOUNG from elimination! The 25-year-old Denver native checks in with ET to talk about being voted off. And be sure to catch ET tonight, when Ace sings on the ET set!
Tuesday at 8 p.m. on FOX, the six remaining "Idol" hopefuls tackle classic love songs with help from guest star ANDREA BOCELLI, who will return to perform on Wednesday night's results show at 9 p.m.!
The "Idol" hopefuls impressed the judges Tuesday -- but America finally said "Adios" to ACE YOUNG, who was eliminated last night!
CHRIS DAUGHTRY, Ace and PARIS BENNETT received the least number of votes this week, but this time Ace, who's no stranger to the bottom three, was the one to go.
On Tuesday night, FOX's "American Idol" hopefuls rocked out with songs by QUEEN, and now, "Another One Bites the Dust" -- BUCKY COVINGTON, who was eliminated this week!
Next Tuesday night, the "Idol" hopefuls will perform classic American songs from one of legendary singer ROD STEWART's The Great American Songbook CDs at 8 p.m. Then Rod will perform live on Wednesday's results show at 9 p.m. on FOX!
The "American Idol" hopefuls went a little bit country this week on FOX, and one contestant is certainly singing a sad song now -- the eliminated MANDISA, kicked off of Wednesday night's show.
Do not miss next week's "American Idol," Tuesday night at 8/7 central on FOX, as the hopefuls belt out songs from classic rock band QUEEN! Then, Wednesday night is a special one-hour results show at 8:30/7:30 central -- as Queen will perform -- and another singer is sent home!
Do not miss "American Idol" on FOX every Tuesday and Wednesday night!
Sixteen-year-old LISA TUCKER, the youngest of the "American Idol" hopefuls, picked KELLY CLARKSON's "Because of You" for this week's "Songs from the 21st Century" theme. It was her undoing. But Lisa, whose fan club nicknamed her the "Mighty Tuck" after her Anaheim, CA, hometown team the Mighty Ducks, has no regrets.
Tuesday was a not-so-starry night for the "Idol" hopefuls this week, who largely disappointed the judges, and last night America has agreed that one contestant should go -- LISA TUCKER!
It was a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll Tuesday night when the Top 10 "American Idol" hopefuls performed a wide range of songs from the 21st century.
The "Idol" contestants sang the hits of the '50s this week but the gig is up for one unlucky hopeful -- the bespectacled KEVIN COVAIS!
The 11 remaining competitors performed their song of choice from the birth of rock 'n' roll. Because of the youth of the performers, music legend BARRY MANILOW, who has a just-gone-platinum album of '50s music, agreed to work with the hopefuls to help them successfully turn back the hands of time.
"American Idol" caught '50s fever this week when the hit reality competition welcomed a very special guest -- music legend BARRY MANILOW! And Barry brings "Idol" fever to the ET set as he sits down with our own JANN CARL for the backstage "Idol" scoop!
"I worked with the [Top 11] for a full day in Vegas, I worked with each for an hour," Barry tells Jann. "These kids are so young -- they're much more talented than I thought!"
It wasn't a STEVIE WONDER-ful night for MELISSA McGHEE on Wednesday night's "American Idol" results show. The 21-year-old from Tampa, FL, was given her walking papers, after being called into the Bottom 3, along with ACE YOUNG and LISA TUCKER.
But McGhee says she wasn't surprised, and she blames it on the fact that she forgot the lyrics to "Lately," the Stevie song she chose to perform on Tuesday night, the first night of the Top 12 competition.
