A cavalcade of music stars -- including MADONNA, the POLICE, BON JOVI, KANYE WEST, BEASTIE BOYS, ALICIA KEYS and more -- rocked stadium-filled audiences around the globe on Saturday for "Live Earth," a day-long series of concerts spearheaded by former Vice President AL GORE to inspire a mass movement to combat global warming.
The event got underway in Sydney, Australia, aided by a "virtual" Gore and Australian actress TONI COLLETTE ('The Sixth Sense'), who sang a song with her band, the FINISH, called "Cowboy Games." Gore appeared via hologram to introduce the show, which later moved on to shows in Tokyo, Hamburg, Shanghai, Rio de Janeiro, London and New Jersey, where Gore appeared in person, introduced by actor and environmental activist LEONARDO DiCAPRIO. The event also reached out to an audience of two billion people by way of numerous media platforms -- TV, radio, Internet and wireless channels.
