BEYONCE KNOWLES' father and manager MATHEW KNOWLES is responding to ARETHA FRANKLIN's comments about Beyonce introducing TINA TURNER as the "Queen" at the Grammys.
Aretha, known for decades as the Queen of Soul, took offense at the remark, telling People in a statement yesterday: "I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyonce, however I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy."

Music legends including ARETHA FRANKLIN, STEVIE WONDER and CARLOS SANTANA will come together on the same stage for a September concert to raise funds for a MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. memorial to be built on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
"The Dream Concert" will be held on September 18, 2007 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, and will also feature performances by ROBIN THICKE, and BeBe and CeCe WINANS.

Only ET was invited backstage with ARETHA FRANKLIN during her special charity performance Tuesday night in New York.
The "Queen of Soul" broke the news that she'll pay tribute to her friend and former CBS newsman ED BRADLEY at his memorial service next week.
Aretha, who has struggled with her own weight for years, admits that her weight worries mirror those of Luther, who gained and lost upwards of 100 pounds at a time several times during his life.
