ALICE GHOSTLEY, who played Esmeralda on the TV series "Bewitched" and Bernice on "Designing Women," has died after a battle with colon cancer, the Associated Press reports. She was 81 years old.
"Bewitched: The Complete Fourth Season" In Stores October 24
Just in time for Halloween, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment releases a DVD featuring America's favorite witch! This digitally remastered, high definition four-disc set includes all 33 episodes of the fourth season of the hit '60s series about a witch who is married to a mortal. Highlights include such classic episodes as Samantha (ELIZABETH MONTGOMERY) being named queen of the witches, Samantha showing Darrin (DICK YORK) what life would be like if everyone knew she was a witch and daughter Tabitha (ERIN MURPHY) casting a spell that causes her toys to come to life.
At the height of her "Bewitched" fame, ELIZABETH MONTGOMERY was harboring a dark secret. Married to "Bewitched" producer WILLIAM ASHER, she became involved in a secret love affair with show director RICHARD MICHAELS. It was a bombshell love triangle that ultimately ended the hit sitcom.
Now, Richard steps forth for the first time to ET to talk about his forbidden love affair with the late blonde star from the late '60s to the early '70s.
The various films they starred in may or may have not been hits in '05, but their performances in them sure were memorable! We look at some actors who stole the show in supporting roles.
Fifty years after her big-screen debut at age 21 in ALFRED HITCHCOCK's 'The Trouble With Harry,' Oscar® winner SHIRLEY MacLAINE has staged a comeback of sorts with three movies in 2005. The 71-year-old veteran co-starred with some of today's hottest leading ladies and stole practically every scene she was in. Last summer, she played CAMERON DIAZ and TONI COLLETTE's grandmother in 'In Her Shoes'; She played another grandmother who may have been the inspiration for 'The Graduate''s Mrs. Robinson in 'Rumor Has It...' opposite JENNIFER ANISTON, in theaters now; and she also played NICOLE KIDMAN's thunder-stealing co-star in the big-screen version of 'Bewitched.' Proof in the pudding, this coming weekend Shirley will be honored at the Palm Springs Film Festival, and she's also landed a Supporting Actress Golden Globe® nomination for her 'In Her Shoes' performance.
Glinda the Good Witch of the North had nothing on Samantha Stephens (ELIZABETH MONTGOMERY), who cast her spell on TV viewers when "Bewitched" hit the tube in 1964. The premise of the series was simple: a beautiful, blonde witch falls for and marries a mere mortal (Darrin Stephens, played in the first season by DICK YORK), who then insists his wife refrain from using her magical powers.
Veteran actress SHIRLEY MacLAINE is stirring up trouble playing NICOLE KIDMAN's onscreen mother in the all-new big-screen version of 'Bewitched,' in theaters June 24. But is the Oscar® winner for 'Terms of Endearment' the definition of a true diva?
"If you're not a diva by the time you're 71, there's something wrong with you," Shirley tells our own MARK STEINES. "I'm a bit of a diva. I really like efficiency and I like things to be done to the best of someone's ability. Everyone thinks I'm a witch diva anyway!"
Funnyman WILL FERRELL hooks up with NICOLE KIDMAN on the big screen this summer in 'Bewitched,' an all-new update of the hit '60s TV show originally starring ELIZABETH MONTGOMERY as Samantha opposite DICK YORK (and later DICK SARGENT) as hapless husband Darrin Stephens.
We're with Will to get the goods on making the "re-imagined" feature -- and working with Nicole!
Starting on June 24, NICOLE KIDMAN will have audiences 'Bewitched' by her new comedy with WILL FERRELL, and ET caught up with the saucy Aussie to get her take on the all-new, big-screen "re-imagining" of the hit '60s TV show!
"I think the idea of doing a romantic comedy that was based on 'Bewitched' but still had something new," she says of why she took the role. "Then, being able to work with NORA [EPHRON] and work with Will..."

The prolific NICOLE KIDMAN has mastered everything from belting out ballads in 'Moulin Rouge' to becoming VIRGINIA WOOLF for 'The Hours.' Now, the Oscar® winner has perfected ELIZABETH MONTGOMERY's famous "Bewitched" nose twitch for her role in the highly anticipated big-screen version of the beloved 1960s sitcom!
"Everyone just kept telling me I looked so much like Elizabeth Montgomery," laughs Nicole, "so that was the first thing that got me interested. And then I watched the series as a little girl -- almost every episode. It was on at 6 o'clock in Australia, and I loved it."
Summer is rapidly approaching and it's time for some of the biggest, baddest, popcorn-crunchiest flicks of the year to invade the mutilplexes! ET has your sneak peek...
Perhaps the biggest movie event of the summer is the final chapter of 'Star Wars.' 'Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith,' in theaters May 19, promises to be "darker" than all previous installments of the saga and will even be a "tearjerker" in the vein of 'Titanic,' according to Jedi Master GEORGE LUCAS. Returning for Anakin Skywalker's climactic transformation into Darth Vader are HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN, NATALIE PORTMAN and EWAN McGREGOR, not to mention Yoda, C-3PO, R2-D2 and Chewbacca!
She played the perfect wife and mother on the now classic "Bewitched" TV series, but in real life ELIZABETH MONTGOMERY searched for 40 years and went through four marriages until she found her true love.
On tonight's ET, we talk to RITA E. PIRO, author of Elizabeth Montgomery A Bewitching Life, now in paperback. The timing is perfect as the film version of 'Bewitched,' starring NICOLE KIDMAN, comes to theaters this July.
The best and the brightest stars shined as they came out over the weekend for the posh Palm Springs International Film Festival, hosted by our own MARY HART. Oscar® winner NICOLE KIDMAN was honored for her enormous achievements in the world of film and tonight on ET, we take you inside the saucy Aussie's big night!
The talented actress, who has been nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in the controversial film 'Birth,' was honored with the coveted Chairman's Award. The award was presented to her by ALEJANDRO AMENÁBAR, the famed director of 'The Others,' the creepy thriller Nicole starred in in 2001.
From fantasy worlds and superheroes to heavy drama and odd-couple comedies, a number of hot stars like JENNIFER LOPEZ, RUSSELL CROWE, BERNIE MAC and ANGELINA JOLIE are getting set to blow 2004 out of the water with their highly anticipated 2005 flicks!
